The Spore Works :: Edible, Medicinal, and Novelty Mushroom Cultures :: Agrocybe aegerita : Pioppino, Black Poplar Mushroom

Agrocybe aegerita : Pioppino, Black Poplar Mushroom #16135
Agrocybe aegerita : Pioppino, Black Poplar Mushroom  Cultivation Difficulty: Moderate
Type: Edible
Substrate: hardwood chips and sawdust, hardwood logs
Colonization/Fruiting Temperatures: 70-80F/50-60F

Available In: Culture Syringe, Culture Slant

This is a sweet flavored mushroom that fruits readily within a completely sealed MycoBag(TM). This is good news for budding mycologists that don’t want to worry about contamination and sterility problems. The complete life cycle can be contained and observed in the sealed sterile MycoBag(TM) environment. We ran a few tests and found this species will fruit weakly within a sealed Grain Based MycoBag(TM) but produces far better results in a wood-based bag. Fruiting was stimulated when the bag was exposed to fairly cool temperatures around 50-60 degrees F.

Advanced growers with good climate controlled fruiting chambers may want to apply a casing layer to increase yields.

After two flushes the Wood Based MycoBag(TM) was buried outdoors under some vegetable plants which resulted in a small crop of mushrooms.

Also see our wood-based MycoBag(TM) Pioppino Mushroom Grow Kits, containing everything you need to start growing Pioppino Mushrooms!

I really love the taste of this mushroom and it is as easy to grow as oyster mushrooms. The wife puts out whenever I get a crop.
